President Donald Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, made a stunning announcement during a Fox News appearance on Sunday that should excite every American who was concerned about how porous and dangerous U.S. borders had become under the Biden-Harris regime. Homan told host Maria Bartiromo that in just a few weeks time under Trump, illegal crossings had fallen by more than when Trump was in office the first term.
“We’ve got the numbers this morning. The crossings on the border are down 93%. 93%! That’s a bigger decrease than under the first Trump administration,” Homan began. “So, look, I said it, President Trump’s the game-changer. No one has had the success he’s had in securing the border. He clearly understands we can’t have strong national security if we don’t have border security. We need to know who’s coming in, what’s coming in, where, and why.
“We’ve achieved success on the border already. We’ve got more work to do. And as far as the deportation operation, we’re just shy of — I think we got 5,000 arrested the first week, and a majority of them being criminals. The non-criminals the media’s talking about, who are these non-criminals?” the border czar added. “The non-criminals are arrested in sanctuary cities because you force us into the community rather than arresting the bad guy in jail, and when we find that criminal, he’s most likely with others, and they’re going to go too. If you want to be a sanctuary city, you’re going to get more agents in the community and more upon-criminals arrested.”
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem stated Friday on Fox News that she intends to take action against sanctuary city mayors who refuse to comply with federal immigration laws should President Donald Trump direct her to do so. During her appearance on The Ingraham Angle, Noem was asked whether the administration is ready to enforce consequences on officials who openly defy federal authority.
“Nobody’s above the law. Of course we will. But that’s up to President Trump. President Trump gives us a direction. I don’t sit here and make up a decision on what I do. I follow the law,” Noem said after Ingraham persisted in asking the question multiple times. “We treat everybody the same in this country now that we have President Trump in the White House, and he’s going to give us direction on how we’re going to go after these individuals.”
“The reality is, these sanctuary cities, their laws have caused us problems. They are limiting some of our tools that we want in our toolbox, but we’re going to continue to go in and use our operations and then show in other cities how it’s working and tell our story to the American people,” Noem said. “The people in their community need to hear how their mayors, their elected officials, are protecting the criminals.”
