Dem Governor Seriously Backpeddles After Homan Arrest Threat, And It’s Glorious

Posted on May 4, 2025 By Star No Comments on Dem Governor Seriously Backpeddles After Homan Arrest Threat, And It’s Glorious

Democrats have been preening and posturing to their supporters for months amid the Trump administration’s mass deportation efforts, vowing to do more than simply ‘push back’ legally. The posturing has included direct suggestions that they will actively impede federal immigration officers and enforcers to the point of preventing illegal aliens from being detained and sent back to their home countries.

One of the most visible signs of pushback is coming from the mouth in the Bronx: Democratic socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who essentially dared Border Czar Tom Homan to arrest her for allegedly impeding immigration enforcement by ‘teaching’ illegal aliens how to avoid arrest. But she’s young and full of herself, and maybe she has yet to fully appreciate just how serious Homan, who’s been in the immigration enforcement business most of his adult life, really is when it comes to doing the job President Trump picked him to do.

Older, wiser Democrats, however, seem to be getting the “FAFO” message Homan is sending, and one of them is Gov. Tony Evers of Wisconsin, who appears to have done a serious 180 after the border czar’s warnings and the arrest of a couple of left-wing judges on charges of aiding and abetting the harboring of illegals. Evers has defended his actions in a statement after issuing guidance directing state employees not to cooperate with federal immigration authorities—even in cases where agents present a warrant. But he included a huge backpeddling caveat.

On Friday, Homan accused Evers of deliberately undermining federal immigration enforcement efforts and warned that the governor could face felony charges if those operations are obstructed. The remarks came in response to a memo issued by Evers’ office last month, directing state employees to consult legal counsel if approached by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents at state facilities. The guidance also instructed employees not to provide any documents or materials unless a lawyer from the Evers administration was present.

“I meant what I said, you can not support what we’re doing, and you can support sanctuary cities if that’s what you want to do, but if you cross that line to impediment or knowingly harboring and concealing an illegal alien, that’s a felony and we’re treating it as such,” Homan told reporters outside the White House on May 1. In a three-minute statement responding to Homan’s remarks, Governor Evers dismissed the border czar’s accusations as a “fake controversy,” but ultimately acknowledged that he would not interfere with ICE agents carrying out immigration enforcement operations in Wisconsin.

“The goal of this guidance was simple, to provide clear, consistent instructions to state employees and ensure they have a lawyer to help them comply with all federal and state laws. Nothing more, nothing less,” he said. The Democrat governor then railed against the president’s “right-wing allies” and Elon Musk, claiming that they “spread misinformation accused me of doing things I didn’t do or say, and fueled a fake controversy of their own creation.”

Sure. Whatever. The point is, Evers is obviously taking Homan at his word, and that’s a good thing because Homan — indeed, the Trump administration writ large — is every bit as serious about deporting illegal immigrants as President Joe Autopen and his regime were about importing them. At some point, we’re betting that even AOC will finally come to that conclusion too…one way or the other.
