Most Voters Still Support Trump’s Immigration Agenda: Surveys

Posted on May 24, 2025 By Star No Comments on Most Voters Still Support Trump’s Immigration Agenda: Surveys

Democrats touted low poll numbers for President Donald Trump after he reached his 100th day in the White House, but reality has come back to bite them.

The idea that Democrats and some in the media were pushing is that there was “buyer’s remorse” and that voters were tricked and did not know what they were voting for.

But a pair of new polls have poured cold water on that theory as they showed support for mass deportations, and the president’s immigration agenda remains high.

A new Marquette University poll found that 66 percent of those surveyed support the president’s handling of illegal immigration.

The poll was taken nearly two months after the deportation of adjudicated MS13 gang member Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was sent back to El Salvador even after Democrats made him the poster boy to change the narrative.

Not surprisingly, Americans were not eager to bring back an illegal alien gang member who was accused of human trafficking and had two restraining orders against him for domestic violence.

And a Quantus poll that was taken this month showed the president deadlocked in his support, with 48 percent of voters approving of his job performance and 48% disapproving.

The poll shot down the idea that the president had “the worst approval numbers” in modern history after 100 days, which Democrats were pushing based on an outlier poll from CNN.

Immigration enforcement has been a cornerstone of the president’s agenda, and the administration added to that with the announcement of voluntary self-deportations this month.

The Department of Homeland Security will pay for commercial flights and offer a $1,000 stipend to illegal aliens who want to self-deport from the United States, a measure that DHS claims would save thousands of dollars.

According to the government, this will cost American taxpayers 70% less than it presently costs DHS to arrest, imprison, and deport someone, which costs over $17,000 on average. DHS expects the average cost of paying for foreigners to remove themselves, even with the stipend, to be no more than $4,500.

The stipend would not be given until it was determined that an individual had self-deported. Aliens will utilize the CBP Home self-deportation app to seek this help, and DHS anticipates self-removals, which are currently in the hundreds, to increase considerably following this announcement.

According to a news release, those who use the CBP Home app to leave the U.S. will be “deprioritized for detention and removal” if they are taking steps to exit the country, Fox News noted.

“If you are here illegally, self-deportation is the best, safest, and most cost-effective way to leave the United States to avoid arrest. It is better to get out now,” DHS Secretary Kristi Noem told Fox News in a statement.

“DHS is now offering illegal aliens financial travel assistance and a stipend to return to their home country through the CBP Home App. This is the safest option for our law enforcement and aliens, and is a 70% savings for US taxpayers. Download the CBP Home App TODAY and self-deport,” she continued.

According to DHS, self-deportation gives people an opportunity to legally return to the nation in the future.

However, some opponents may view the action as immigrants receiving government money for breaching the law. DHS recognized this worry to Fox News, and the government reiterated that this will save taxpayers substantial money in the long run, with the ultimate aim of removing illegal aliens from the country.

Under the Biden administration, millions of individuals entered the nation illegally, leading to a grinding standstill in fresh border crossings.

Furthermore, the Trump administration has prioritized deporting those with criminal records and charges, in addition to those who are illegally present in the country. This effort includes moving some accused MS-13 and Tren de Aragua gang members to an El Salvador prison after Trump labeled both groups as international terrorist organizations.
