Following escalating demonstrations in Los Angeles, a high-ranking government official authorized the deployment of at least 2,000 National Guard troops to the area. The move was made in response to protests sparked by recent immigration enforcement actions targeting employers.

While speaking to reporters before departing for scheduled meetings at a secure government retreat, the official criticized what were described as violent elements within the protests. He indicated that further action could be taken if necessary to maintain public order.

When asked whether emergency powers such as the Insurrection Act would be invoked, the official stated that such measures would depend on the scale and nature of the unrest. “You have violent people. And we’re not going to let them get away with it,” he said.

During the press exchange, the official emphasized the importance of maintaining national security and public safety, noting that meetings with military leaders were planned in the coming days. When questioned about future troop deployments, he responded that additional resources would be used as needed to ensure law and order across the country.

Although no specific plans were confirmed regarding the use of Marines or other military branches, the official left open the possibility of further action depending on how events unfold. He also noted the importance of security at the planned meetings and declined to comment on the presence of any international visitors.

The protests, centered on opposition to workplace immigration enforcement, have prompted concern over whether similar demonstrations could spread to other cities. The government’s response remains focused on a firm approach to maintaining public order.
