Noem Supports Criminal Charges Against CNN For Anti-ICE App Promo

Posted on July 2, 2025 By Star No Comments on Noem Supports Criminal Charges Against CNN For Anti-ICE App Promo

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said during a Monday interview she believes that CNN could be legally liable for promoting an app that tracks Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, thereby alerting illegal immigrants and helping them evade capture and deportation.

Noem’s comments come on the heels of previous remarks by U.S. Attorney Pam Bondi who also said this week in response to the CNN report that she will be looking into whether the network violated any federal laws by featuring the app in a report.

“Okay, a 700% increase against agents and you’ve got groups that are — and I had Pam Bondi on about this last night, they are warning people,” Fox News host Sean Hannity said on Monday to begin his segment with Noem.

“Are they not aiding and abetting in law-breaking? Are they not responsible for obstructing justice? And she was very open into looking into the criminality of it, or potential criminality of it,” he asked.

“Yes, absolutely. I believe, in my opinion, that they are. And that’s why I’m so thrilled that Pam is willing to be proactive and go after those individuals that would perpetuate this kind of activity against our law enforcement officers,” the DHS chief began.

“These ICE agents, these law enforcement officers, Border Patrol agents, they get up every single day and are working to get these dangerous criminals off of our streets, are heroes. They are absolute heroes. And to hear the amount of violence that’s coming up against them, a 700% increase in just the last several months against them and their families, they are not just going after them, they are also doxxing their families and threatening their children,” Noem said.

“And these individuals just love America and believe that the law should apply to everybody. They are doing their jobs that Joe Biden never let them do, and they are protecting their own communities,” she added.

Continuing, the DHS secretary said: “Remember that many of these law enforcement officers live in these communities. Their children go to those schools. They go to church there. These are their neighbors they are trying to protect. And to have someone like CNN openly describing how to use technology to reveal the activities and the operations that these law enforcement folks are trying to conduct, it’s shameful and it could be prosecutable. So I’m glad Pam is looking into it.”

The host responded: “And you said, ‘I’m calling out you, CNN, I’m calling you because you lie every single day about what these operations are.’ There has been a lot of lying, Madam Secretary, it’s been going on for four years, ‘The border is closed, the border is secure.’ No, it’s not.”

Meanwhile, CNN faces uncertain times following Warner Bros. Discovery’s announcement last week that it will split into two separate companies by separating its studios and streaming operations from its cable TV networks, according to media insiders.

The corporate division, expected to be finalized by mid-2026, will have major implications for CNN, which is reportedly viewed as a declining asset dragging down Warner Bros. Discovery’s more profitable businesses, insiders told Fox News.

Just over three years ago, Discovery Inc. merged with WarnerMedia to form Warner Bros. Discovery amid much fanfare, with CEO David Zaslav praising the company as “the best place for impactful storytelling.” However, the venture did not unfold as planned. Under the new structure, Warner Bros. Discovery CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels will oversee the spun-off cable assets, including CNN, while Zaslav retains control of the studios and streaming divisions.

“Putting a bean counter as CEO sends a very clear message: this is finally the beginning of the long-overdue correction of the [Jeff] Zucker-era excesses,” one media insider close to CNN told Fox News.

“It’s not just the overpriced talent. It’s the overpriced producers. The overpriced executives. The superfluous reporters who barely are on the air. All will either be exited or forced to take massive pay cuts,” the media insider added.
