Putin Defies Trump Warning with Devastating 10-Hour Missile Barrage on Ukraine

Just days after former President Donald Trump publicly warned Vladimir Putin about consequences if Russia continued its war in Ukraine, Moscow launched one of its most intense assaults in recent months — a 10-hour missile and drone strike overnight across multiple Ukrainian cities.

The escalation comes despite Trump’s statements earlier this week during a cabinet meeting at the White House, where he condemned Russia’s actions, saying:

“Putin is killing a lot of people… He’s very nice all the time, but it turns out to be meaningless.”

Trump reportedly warned that new sanctions could be imposed if Russia refused to pursue peace. He also questioned Putin’s sincerity in ending the conflict.

Ukraine Hit Hard in West, Poland Reacts
The overnight attack hit major cities across Ukraine, including Kyiv, Lutsk, and Ternopil, with western regions bearing the brunt. Air raid sirens wailed for hours as missiles and drones bombarded key infrastructure and residential areas.

The intensity of the attack prompted a swift response from neighboring Poland, a NATO member. Poland’s Armed Forces Command released a statement confirming that Polish and allied aircraft were deployed in national airspace in reaction to the nearby activity.

“In connection with the Russian Federation’s air strikes on targets in Ukraine, Polish and allied aviation has begun operating in Polish airspace,” the statement read.

Trump’s Tense Relationship with Putin Resurfaces
This dramatic escalation comes amid a renewed public rift between Trump and Putin. Reports earlier this year suggested Trump had privately threatened that he would “bomb the s* out of Moscow”** if Russia expanded its aggression in Ukraine during his second term.

Now, many are questioning whether Trump’s public remarks this week were taken seriously — or, as some analysts suggest, defiantly ignored by the Kremlin.

“This appears to be a calculated response,” one European defense analyst said. “Putin wants to send a message that he won’t be swayed by Trump’s rhetoric — not now, not later.”

Peace Talks Still Stalled
Efforts to reach a resolution remain at a standstill. A recent round of talks between Ukrainian and Russian delegations in Turkey ended without agreement on a ceasefire or temporary truce.

With the war now in its third year, tensions are rising not just in Ukraine, but across Europe — especially among frontline NATO nations who worry the conflict could spill over.

What’s Next?
While Trump has repeatedly claimed he could resolve the war “quickly” if re-elected, critics argue that statements alone are unlikely to deter Putin — particularly as Russian forces continue to press their advantage.

The latest barrage also raises serious questions for NATO leadership and the Biden administration, as the international community faces renewed pressure to respond forcefully — with or without Trump’s backing.
