Schiff Calls FBI Raid on Bolton “Retribution”
On Sunday, NBC’s Meet the Press host Kristen Welker asked Senator Adam Schiff (D-CA) about the FBI raid on former National Security Advisor John Bolton’s home.
“This week, the FBI searched Bolton’s home and office,” Welker noted. “I spoke with the vice president, who rejects the idea that this is political retribution. Do you think people should let the investigation play out before jumping to conclusions?”
Systematic Intimidation, According to Schiff
Schiff responded firmly. “This is clearly retribution. John Bolton wasn’t picked at random. He is a prominent critic of the president. The pattern is systematic. Anyone who stands up to the president or criticizes him faces federal consequences.”
He continued, illustrating the point. “If you’re John Bolton, your home gets seized. If you’re on the Federal Reserve and resist lowering interest rates, you face threats. Generals issuing reports that cast doubt on U.S. military actions in Iran risk firing. Even the head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics can be fired for an unfavorable jobs report.”
Targeting Critics
Schiff concluded, “This isn’t just about Bolton. It’s about intimidating anyone who might challenge the president. The message is clear: oppose the president, and you face consequences.”
