In tragic news, a five-time Olympic cyclist was discovered dead in her Las Vegas home at the age of fifty.
Las Vegas Police found the dead corpse of Daniela Larreal Chirinos, a Venezuelan cyclist who participated in several Olympic Games, on Friday, August 16. Early last week, there were reports of the former athlete being missing.
Authorities now speculate that she may have died on August 11 and have noted an incredibly tragic and unanticipated cause of death.
Chirinos was reportedly a pioneer in Venezuelan sports. She competed in five consecutive Olympics throughout the course of a two-decade career, starting in Barcelona in 1992 and concluding in London in 2012.
She had success outside of the Olympics, taking home a silver medal from the 1990 Pan American Games, two golds and a silver in 2002, and two more silvers in 2003.
Chirinos reportedly worked at a hotel and lived in Las Vegas at the time of her death.
The former cyclist was reported missing early last week, which prompted the authorities to start a search that ended when her body was discovered dead at her residence.

According to FOX, it was eventually discovered that the solid food remnants lodged in her trachea caused hypoxia, which ultimately led to her death.
It goes without saying that the cycling community was shocked to learn of her passing. On Instagram, the Venezuelan Cycling Federation honored the former competitor. According to their statement:
“Rest in peace, Daniela 🕊️🙏🏻. The board of directors of the Venezuelan Cycling Federation, chaired by Eliezer Rojas @eliezerojas, joins the mourning that overwhelms Venezuelan cycling due to the physical departure of Daniela Larreal. Daniela was a prominent figure in national cycling, representing Venezuela in five Olympic Games, and obtaining three diplomas for the country, including several medals in national and international events. Our most sincere condolences to her family and friends.”
