It’s possible that some of your money is truly worth MORE money!
Perhaps you will remember to be cautious about which Beanie Babies to give away or think twice before discarding your old VHS cassettes just in case, but what about the $1.7 million bronze 1943 penny? Or a $60,000 crazy-shaped Cheeto?
Here’s another: if you can locate any of these dollar bills with distinct serial numbers, you could be able to make a sizable profit.
The most sought-after serial numbers are on a list compiled by collectors at CoolSerialNumbers.com, and they will give you money for it.
Collectors seem to be particularly interested in “fancy” serial numbers, or unique or rare serial numbers.
The website has the complete list available for viewing, however below is a condensed version of the numbers they are looking for:
- $1 bills with seven consecutive repeating digits (18888888, 59999999).
- $1 banknotes with seven of the same number (99909999, 00010000).
- Super repeaters (67676767) on $1 bills
- $1 banknotes with double quads (44440000)
- Super radars (01111110, 80000008) on $1 bills
- 99999991–99999999 serial numbers, any size, type, or denomination
- Any size, kind, or denomination can be found in the serial digits X0000000, X0000001, and X9999999.

If you think you have any bills that they would be interested in, the website states you can get in touch with them for an evaluation or you can just go directly to eBay, where there is a whole area devoted to coins and paper money.

You might also want to look through any $100 banknotes you have while you’re at it.
The initial bill (serial number 00000001) may be worth $10,000 to $15,000, according to Dustin Johnston, director of Heritage Auctions in Dallas, who spoke with The Boston Globe when the $100 bill was redesigned in October 2013.
It doesn’t hurt to look, even if the odds are obviously one in however many $100 bills have been made since then!
There is significant value in other banknotes that have odd serial numbers or errors on them.
According to the publication, a rare $2 bill sold for almost $30,000, and a $20 bill from 2009 brought in $5,581. Good luck!
