Here We Go Again: Democrat Launches Trump Impeachment Attempt

Posted on April 18, 2025 By Star No Comments on Here We Go Again: Democrat Launches Trump Impeachment Attempt

Just over two weeks after President Donald Trump’s return to the White House, a Democratic Congressman has initiated an impeachment campaign against him. Rep. Al Green, a Texas Democrat, introduced the campaign on the House floor Wednesday, saying, “The movement to impeach the president has begun. I rise to announce that I will bring Articles of Impeachment against the president for dastardly deeds proposed and dastardly deeds done.”

Green stated that the inspiration for the articles of impeachment was sparked by President Trump’s announcement on Tuesday regarding the United States taking full ownership of the Gaza Strip. The plan involves resettling nearly 2 million Palestinians in other countries while developing the land. “To whom it may concern, ethnic cleansing in Gaza is not a joke, especially when it emanates from the president of the United States — the most powerful person in the world,” Green went on to say after taking the floor of the House, per the video below.

During Trump’s first term, Green initiated three separate efforts to push Congress to impeach the president. He was accused of running “a rogue campaign” against the wishes of party leadership. Republicans used this as evidence that any future attempts to impeach Trump would be driven by partisan politics.

During Trump’s first term, he made history by being impeached twice. The first impeachment occurred in 2019 when the House charged him over a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. However, in 2020, the Senate voted to acquit him of any wrongdoing. He was impeached a second time by the House for alleged “incitement of insurrection” following the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021.

Regarding the Gaza Strip, Trump aims to bring a permanent end to the Israel-Hamas conflict, which has been ongoing for over 15 months since the terrorist attack on Israel in October 2023. Trump envisions transforming the land into the “Riviera of the Middle East.” This plan for Gaza was announced on Tuesday evening following a lengthy meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“They’re living under fallen concrete that’s very dangerous and very precarious. They instead can occupy all of a beautiful area with homes and safety, and they can live out their lives in peace and harmony instead of having to go back and do it again,” Trump said during the announcement. “The U.S. will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it, too.”
