Pollster Luntz Reveals What ‘Key Voters’ Think About Trump’s Second Term Agenda

Posted on April 24, 2025 By Star No Comments on Pollster Luntz Reveals What ‘Key Voters’ Think About Trump’s Second Term Agenda

Pollster Frank Luntz stated on Wednesday that “paycheck to paycheck voters” are generally supportive of President Donald Trump’s second-term agenda, as his administration works on issues that resonate with them. Trump’s administration has focused on deporting dangerous illegal immigrants to enhance community safety and improving government efficiency to reduce wasteful spending.

Speaking on “On Balance with Leland Vittert,” Luntz noted that these priorities are well-received by “paycheck to paycheck voters.” However, he acknowledged that there are concerns among this group about whether Trump is sufficiently addressing the rising costs they face in their daily lives, he said.

“That they are really happy that people who should not be here are being asked to leave, that they’re really happy the Washington’s being held responsible and accountable for wasteful Washington spending, that they want to see the government be more efficient, more effective and more accountable,” Luntz said when host Leland Vittert asked what he is currently hearing from these voters. “The only criticism that they have is they don’t want the president to take his eye off the ball when it comes to how much their day to day life costs them.”

“These are people who, when you say ‘paycheck to paycheck,’ it means that their house is barely paid for, it means that they have nothing left over at the end of the week or end of the month,” he continued. “And they want to make sure that this administration is as focused now as they were during the election campaign. They believe in everything else. But they’re wondering, what will tariffs do to prices? What will a focus on changing the way Washington works, how will that impact them favorably in their wallets and in their pocket books?”

Many Democratic governors have quietly started moderating their far-left positions on key issues, such as immigration and government waste, which President Trump is actively addressing, in an attempt to improve their electoral prospects, the Daily Caller reported. Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency’s (DOGE) asserts on its website that it has cut an estimated $65 billion in government spending, including fraud.

Luntz also stated on February 17 that former voters who had supported former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former President Joe Biden but switched to Trump in November are reacting positively to the quick actions the president is taking in his new administration.

“They love the pace of change. They were very fed up over the last four years. They wanted action. They wanted results. They looked at prices,” the pollster said at the time. “They looked at affordability. They looked at immigration. And they didn’t see anything happening. They still don’t like what he says, but they like what he does.”

“They wanted to see a reduction in wasteful Washington spending. And they’re seeing that. So what they tell me is, ‘I wish he would be a little bit less rude,’ but at the same time, they like what he’s doing,” he added. “They believe he’s serious about it. And for the first time, they have confidence in the future, which is why you now see some significant shifts in the polling about the expectations for the direction in the coming years.”
