Lifelong liberal Democrat Bill Maher, host of HBO’s “Real Time,” has spent quite a bit of time and no small amount of personal influence trying to convince anyone who will listen that his is becoming a party of elitist, left-wing, snobbish purists who demand 100 percent compliance 100 percent of the time with all of the crazy that’s being embraced.
That includes 700 different ‘genders,’ teaching trans nonsense to small children, providing kindergartners with books featuring graphic homosexual sex, allowing biological men to beat up females, being virulently anti-white and anti-Semitic, and adding exactly nothing to improving the lives of their constituents because they’re incapable of agreeing with anything Donald Trump and Republicans support.
As such, the Potty Mouth Party’s approval rating, according to a recent survey, is a basement-dwelling 28 percent, and a growing number of lifelong members are leaving for the GOP because they’ve had enough of the insanity. That includes lifelong Dem and former Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva, who announced this week he’s now a registered Republican. “As of today, I’m leaving the party of paid protests, purple hair, and pronouns, and joining the party of faith, family, and freedom,” Villanueva said during a recent speaking event
Villanueva was elected sheriff of Los Angeles County in 2018 but lost his re-election bid in November 2022 to former Long Beach police chief Robert Luna. During his tenure, Villanueva positioned himself as a reform candidate who frequently broke with his own party on major issues, notably by adopting tough-on-crime policies and publicly criticizing the Black Lives Matter riots.
“During the COVID-19 pandemic, Villanueva declined to comply with local officials’ orders to close public beaches over the July 4 holiday weekend. In July 2021, he also announced that he would not allocate the department’s “limited resources” to enforce a mask mandate, stating that it was “not backed by science,” as reported by Breitbart News at the time. “Forcing the vaccinated and those who already contracted COVID-19 to wear masks indoors is not backed by science and contradicts the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines,” the sheriff said in response to critics.
Villanueva is part of a growing wave of disillusioned California Democrats who have left the party over the past year. In August, State Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil of Jackson switched her party affiliation to Republican. Naturally, in response, Democratic leadership went into high vindictive mode and stripped her of all committee assignments and removed her from the state’s Latino caucus. Remember, Dems require — require — cult-like allegiance or else.
The race out of the party gets even worse in the once-great state of California. A month later, former State Senate leader Gloria Romero, who was previously seen as a leading candidate for higher office, announced her decision to join the Republican Party.
“I was a Democratic convention delegate for the Reverend Jesse Jackson and President Barack Obama at three different conventions. I was California co-chair for the re-election of President Obama,” Romero wrote when announcing her decision. “Today, I say goodbye, adios, I’ve had enough. I am now another near lifelong Democrat who is joining the growing number of people—including key groups, Latinos— who are leaving the Democratic Party. This is not the Democratic Party that I once championed. I don’t recognize it anymore, and I cannot continue.”
This is today’s Democratic Party: Hateful, racist, vengeful, intolerant, crazy, and devoid of any policy solutions that will improve the country or the lives of their constituents. No wonder it’s collapsing.
