Pakistan Nominates Trump For Nobel Peace Prize

Posted on June 22, 2025 By Star No Comments on Pakistan Nominates Trump For Nobel Peace Prize

President Donald Trump has long sought the Nobel Peace Prize, and he has done plenty to earn it, but many believe politics has played a significant role in denying him the award.

This year, the president intervened and assisted in stopping what could have been a disaster between two nuclear powers, India and Pakistan, with the latter wanting to see him rewarded, CNN reported.

Pakistan announced Friday that it will formally nominate President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for his role in brokering a peace deal that ended the recent conflict between the two nations.

The Pakistani government has credited Trump with bringing an end to a dangerous four-day conflict that saw both sides launch military strikes earlier this year.

Back in May, the two nuclear-armed rivals appeared to be on the brink of full-scale war after each side hit military targets inside the other’s territory.

The crisis began on April 22, when an Islamist militant group killed dozens of Hindu tourists in Indian administered Jammu and Kashmir, the disputed region that has fueled decades of tensions between the two nations.

India blamed Pakistan for offering cover to the militants, alleging that the attackers were linked to Pakistan-based groups Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba. Pakistan has denied the claims.

The standoff escalated sharply on May 7, when India launched a wave of air and missile strikes on Pakistani military sites. Pakistan retaliated with its own strikes a few days later.

Then, in a major diplomatic breakthrough, both sides agreed to stand down on May 10.

“After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE. Congratulations to both Countries on using Common Sense and Great Intelligence. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” President Trump posted on Truth Social.

Pakistan is now openly praising Trump’s leadership during the talks.

“President Trump demonstrated great strategic foresight and stellar statesmanship through robust diplomatic engagement with both Islamabad and New Delhi, which de-escalated a rapidly deteriorating situation,” the Pakistani government said. “This intervention stands as a testament to his role as a genuine peacemaker.”

Trump has long said he is willing to mediate between India and Pakistan over the disputed Kashmir region. Pakistan has welcomed that offer, but a lasting peace will face hurdles, especially given Washington’s historic support for India as a counterweight to China.

Pakistan’s announcement comes just days after Trump hosted Pakistani army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir at the White House. It was the first time a Pakistani military leader had been invited while a civilian government was in place in Islamabad.

Trump also referenced the India-Pakistan deal in a recent Truth Social post about Israel’s strikes on Iran.

It came after the State Department announced Wednesday that Rwanda and Congo will sign a deal to end the fighting in eastern Congo, where rebels backed by Rwanda, according to Congo’s government, have taken key cities since January. The United States was asked to help with the peace talks by Congo President Felix Tshekedi.

“This is a Great Day for Africa and, quite frankly, a Great Day for the World! I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for this, I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for stopping the War between India and Pakistan, I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for stopping the War between Serbia and Kosovo, I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for keeping Peace between Egypt and Ethiopia, the president said in his post.

“I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for doing the Abraham Accords in the Middle East,” he said. “No, I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize no matter what I do, including Russia/Ukraine, and Israel/Iran, whatever those outcomes may be, but the people know, and that’s all that matters to me!”
