President Trump Diagnosed with Chronic Venous Condition, Health Officials Confirm

President Donald Trump has been officially diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), a circulatory condition that affects blood flow in the legs. The announcement comes after weeks of public speculation following visible swelling in his lower legs and discoloration on his right hand.

At a press briefing on Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt shared the diagnosis, citing a statement from the President’s physician. The medical evaluation followed observations of persistent swelling near the ankles and bruising that had become noticeable over several months.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, CVI occurs when leg veins become weakened or damaged, impairing the valves that normally return blood to the heart. As a result, blood pools in the lower legs, which can lead to swelling, pressure, and—over time—ulcers or skin discoloration.

“Importantly, there was no evidence of deep vein thrombosis or arterial disease,” Leavitt assured reporters while reading the physician’s summary.

She added that a full medical evaluation—including blood tests and cardiac screening—showed all results within normal limits. Despite the visible symptoms, the President is reportedly not in pain and remains in “excellent health,” according to his medical team.

Observers had noted bruising on Trump’s right hand as early as February, with yellow discoloration visible during his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron. Similar marks appeared again in March and April, including during a public award ceremony, leading to further speculation about his condition.

White House officials previously dismissed the marks as minor and linked them to the President’s busy schedule. However, the newly disclosed CVI diagnosis provides a clearer explanation for the recurring bruising and swelling.

CVI is a relatively common condition, particularly among older adults. According to health experts, around one in 20 adults experience the condition. While often manageable, it can require lifestyle adjustments to prevent complications.

For now, President Trump is expected to continue his duties without interruption, and no major treatment interventions have been announced.
