This Graphic Shows Why Democrats Are Panicking Ahead Of the 2026 Midterms

Posted on October 15, 2025 By Star No Comments on This Graphic Shows Why Democrats Are Panicking Ahead Of the 2026 Midterms

After Texas passed a redistricting plan widely expected to strengthen Republican control, Democrats decided to launch their own counteroffensive — this time trying to squeeze out more congressional seats in California.

But there’s a big problem: it’s a battle they’re unlikely to win. Even CNN, hardly a conservative outlet, admitted in a recent segment that Republicans have far more redistricting opportunities across the country if they choose to go all in:

🚨 BREAKING: Panic is worsening among Democrats after it sinks in just how many Republican House seats will be picked up through redistricting by 2026

“Democrats could lose 19 SEATS! This is a HUGE amount!”

Of note: “Florida could be a gold mine! […] EVERYTHING left over is an advantage to the Republicans!”

According to that analysis, Republicans stand to gain at least five additional seats — and that’s without even factoring in Florida, which CNN described as a potential “gold mine” for the GOP once redistricting there is finalized.

And that’s just the start. As CNN pointed out, the political map could shift even further depending on the outcome of a Supreme Court case concerning the Voting Rights Act, which the justices heard oral arguments for on Wednesday. If the Court rules to end race-based gerrymandering, Democrats could lose up to 19 seats nationwide — a political catastrophe that would all but guarantee continued Republican control of the House.

For Democrats, that would be a devastating blow to their long-term strategy. They’ve been banking on reclaiming the House in 2026 to once again weaponize congressional investigations against President Trump, just as they did during his first term. But if these redistricting realities hold, those ambitions may never get off the ground.

What’s more, Politico is saying the total number could be as many as 27 seats:

Taken together, the groups identified 27 total seats that Republicans could redistrict in their favor ahead of the midterms — 19 of which stem from Section 2 being overturned.

This really underscores what a terrible political miscalculation it was for California Gov. Gavin Newsom to jump into the redistricting fight. It’s clear he didn’t do it out of concern for his party — he did it to appeal to the far-left base and boost his own national ambitions for 2028. Newsom wants to be president, and every move he makes now is about positioning himself for that run, not helping Democrats nationwide.

But here’s the irony: even if Newsom manages a short-term win in California, his meddling could end up costing Democrats the war on a national scale. If the Supreme Court ruling and redistricting trends hold, he could be the one responsible for cementing Republican control of the House for years to come.

That would be a dose of poetic political karma — Newsom’s ego-driven power play leading directly to the Democratic Party’s long-term collapse in Congress.

And let’s not forget — all of this is happening while Democrats are already historically unpopular and completely out of ideas. They don’t have a single winning policy to run on. Their entire platform boils down to coddling illegal immigrants and obsessing over Donald Trump. That’s not a strategy — that’s political self-destruction.

So by all means, keep digging, Democrats. The hole you’re in is only getting deeper — and it’s starting to look like you’re not climbing out anytime soon.
