Trump To Use Migrant Funds To Build Center For Homeless Vets: Report

Posted on May 10, 2025 By Star No Comments on Trump To Use Migrant Funds To Build Center For Homeless Vets: Report

President Donald Trump on Friday signed an executive order creating a national center for homeless veterans, using funds reallocated from programs previously directed toward services for illegal immigrants, Fox News Digital has learned.

The order instructs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to establish the National Center for Warrior Independence on the VA campus in West Los Angeles.

According to the White House, Los Angeles is home to roughly 3,000 homeless veterans—more than any other city in the nation—representing about 10% of the total homeless veteran population in the United States.

“The new National Center for Warrior Independence will help them and other veterans like them rebuild their lives,” the White House said. The new facility will also allow vets from around the country to come there to seek and receive care, benefits, and services “to which they are entitled.”

The order reallocates funds intended for housing or services for illegal immigrants to the construction, establishment, and maintenance of the new center, Fox reported, citing the White House.

“The Center will promote self-sufficiency through housing, substance abuse treatment, and support for productive work for the veterans housed there,” the White House explained.

The objective is to house up to 6,000 homeless vets in the center by 2028, Trump’s final year in office.

The order directs the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development to utilize vouchers to assist homeless veterans and instructs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to restore accountability at the VA.

The order also instructs the VA to take action against individuals who have committed misconduct and to investigate and rectify the Biden administration’s decision to “rehire and reinstate back pay for employees previously fired for misconduct.”

The order also guarantees that veterans will have expanded access to care, benefits, and services, aiming to reduce wait times for Veterans Health Administration appointments through measures such as extended hours, weekend availability, and increased virtual healthcare options.

Additionally, the order calls for a feasibility study at the Manchester VA Medical Center to explore expanding its capabilities into a full-service medical facility in New Hampshire.

“President Trump strongly believes that every veteran deserves our gratitude, and that the federal government should treat veterans like the heroes they are,” the White House added.

The executive order follows last week’s White House announcement that President Trump will host a military parade on June 14 to honor veterans and active-duty service members, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army, Fox added.

Meanwhile, for all the commotion from media commentators criticizing Trump’s ambitious economic policies in his second term, real data from the Treasury Department paints a quite different picture—one his critics would prefer to ignore.

In spite of constant opposition in Washington and ongoing pushback from globalist elites, the Trump administration has made progress in the fight against the federal debt.

Since his second inauguration in January, the national debt owed by the public — the majority of America’s debt, financed by outside creditors — has increased at a far slower rate than under former President Joe Biden’s final term.

According to a Washington Examiner investigation, the public debt climbed by almost $37 billion between January 22 and May 6 of this year. During the same period in 2024, under Biden, the total increased by more than $478 billion.

This equates to a startling 92% decrease in the pace of debt growth, which all but vindicates Trump’s efforts to reduce federal bloat through the Department of Government Efficiency.

While the overall debt reduction — about $5.5 billion — may look small in the perspective of a $26.2 trillion national debt, the direction and speed of the shift are critical.

The development comes amid a surge of bold economic changes that represent a significant departure from Biden’s policies, the Examiner noted.

In early April, Trump proposed a 10% duty on all imports, which he named “Liberation Day.” The objective is to bring American manufacturing back home, safeguard US workers, and rebalance long-abused trade agreements.
